Fab feedback from May Noise!

Posted by Rebecca Sedgwick on 23 May 2016

Jenny Jones, the Noise Devizes Co-ordinator, has collected feedback from volunteers and clients which really does capture the heart of what The Noise Devizes is all about.

Here is some of the feedback:

“Yes! Thank you for inviting me. I REALLY enjoyed the day and helping the different teams - it was excellent! I particularly enjoyed the project at Southbroom St James Academy where you could see what a difference that number of volunteers made in a day. I’m definitely going to do it [The Noise] again in October”  Kevin – first timer

“We heard about the project at St James’. It was easy to apply and we really enjoyed Kara at Alzheimer's Supportwhat our team was doing (cleaning the Alzheimer’s Support Day Centre). We think it will probably make a bit of difference to those who use the centre. Yes, sign us up to be involved in the Noise Devizes again. We thought the event was well organised and enjoyable” Team C

“Drews Pond Wood work was brilliant! Stuart Hislop was a great coordinator and it was a beautiful environment to be in – definitely up for going again!” Team F

“Last year we were round at the back of the school so no one could see what we were doing but this year it was better, working in the front of Southbroom St James’ Academy, we were seen by passers by and able to chat to some about what we were doing and why.”  Team A member’s reflection on the morning

“It was really hard work and I’m shattered but it was really great (working at The Trinity Academy). At the end of the day you could really see what we had to show for our team effort and the difference it made to the parents and children. It was a great day and we had the opportunity to socialise with the headteacher and school community over the b-b-q lunch they put on. Everyone got on so well together – it was such a nice atmosphere and the weather was perfect which helped!” Team B member

“Wonderful day, thank you. Loved clearing the lady’s garden and how that was such a blessing to her. Great to see the children in the neighbourhood copying us and weeding the communal area too.” Team D member

“Loved the cakes and refreshments. Great day! Could have done with more green bin space but a really good day. It was really nice how grateful the lady whose house we went to was” Team D member

“A really successful day. Turning over, weeding and planting up the flower bed was a relatively easy job at this time of year but it means that the (elderly) resident can enjoy looking out over her garden all summer now.” Team E

“ I really liked litterpicking because I could litter pick what I wanted” William

This is what some of those we served said:

“The work undertaken by The Noise this occasion and last year has made a huge difference to the school. The work carried out this time has improved the image of SSJA and Devizes School and has improved the area for members of the public” Nigel Andrews, Headteacher, Southbroom St James Academy.

“I wanted to write to express my sincere thanks for all the time and effort that went into organising The Noise last weekend. Everyone at Trinity was immensely thankful to the volunteers giving up their time to help parents and children from school make a difference to our outside areas. Please find attached some before and after photos to help celebrate the day’s achievements.” Andrew Wilson, Headteacher, The Trinity CE Primary Academy.

“I wanted to thank you myself for the fantastic job the Noise volunteers did cleaning the Alzheimer’s Support Day Centre so well on Saturday. The staff and volunteers were amazed how much the team had done and really appreciated the huge amount of work that must have gone on. If you send me some photos I will put them on the Alzheimer’s Support Facebook with an acknowledgement to The Noise Devizes so that their efforts can be recognised by a wider audience.” Grant Newton, Day Care Services Manager, Wiltshire

“The volunteers were all very friendly. It was great and made a huge difference to me. They cleared away everything they took down and left my garden very tidy.” Local resident

“I was so grateful to them [the volunteers] and it was such a help for me. It was lovely to see them and the youngsters who came round to take photographs too. Please accept this donation towards the future work of The Noise Devizes”.  Local resident

“They [the volunteers] were a pleasure to work with and much was accomplished on a lovely day. I look forward to October.” Stuart Hislop, Drews Pond Woods Project coordinator

“Fantastic to see such young children learning to take care of the local environment. I’ve never seen that before. Well done to you all!” Passer-by near the play area on The Green.

Noise Devizes Volunteer Registration Forms are still available in the church office and on this website. Please do register/ confirm your commitment to The BIG Weekend of 1-2nd October as soon as possible to help the team plan ahead. This is a great opportunity to invite family and friends to experience something that is really life changing.

Reaching out in love with action is a great way to promote God’s love throughout the community where we live. Jesus transformed lives by His love in action and we are so privileged to be able to show in some part that we care in His name as our way of passing on his ministry and as you can read from above, the blessing isn’t limited to those whom we serve. If all 75 volunteers from the May event each invited just one more volunteer each just think of the impact on our community. Let’s make October’s Noise Devizes something to shout about because of the number of lives transformed!!
