Another fabulous weekend!

The projects included deep cleaning the Alzheimer’s Support Day Centre; providing much needed household and garden clearance to vulnerable adults in several homes across the town; painting and gardening at Southbroom St James’ Academy; litter picking and clearing overgrowth around the perimeter of Devizes School; and supporting the work of The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust at The Roundway Orchard and Cricket Field. Like a lot of community groups in the area, The Noise recognise that offering a helping hand can make a difference to the wellbeing of individuals as well as the character of the town.  Rev Keith Brindle, the vicar at St James’, said ‘Many of those individuals we have helped are struggling for one reason or another and their needs have been referred to us by other community agencies. One person, whose overgrown garden we cleared spoke of how the thought of facing the clearance job overwhelmed him and how thankful he was that he could now see daylight from his downstairs windows. The Noise gets us off our backsides, out of the church building and working together across all ages and alongside other community organisations. Come Sunday afternoon though we are all exhausted we also recognise that we’ve done something together that’s been fun, worthwhile and a little different from most weekends.’

In delivering The Noise initiative St James’ has been supported by Wiltshire Council Social Services, Devizes School, Devizes Leisure Centre, Hillworth Park, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Southbroom St James Academy, Shire Garden Machines Ltd, Roses the Ironmongers, Gaiger Bros Ltd and Grist Environmental waste services. Next year will be the 4th year that St James’ run The Noise and they are looking for more organisations to partner with and projects to support. If you are interested in getting involved or would like more information we'd love to hear from you and you can get in touch via the website.
